Self sightseeing on Crete
Routaki was launched in 2006 with the idea, to produce car and scooter routes with information which could be enjoyed on the most southerly island of Greece, Crete.
With the fast growing market of GPS navigation and especially mobile devices over time it showed there was not enough interest for these routes. With these routes was information provided about Crete. Habits, traditions and customs, were worked out through, interviews, local stories and extensive research. It was put on 'paper' and also record on audio, so it was possible to listen to it while driving.
We of Routaki find it a shame of all this information to be unused and have therefore decided to adapt this site and release all the information. It's all to be read under the tab ‘Crete Infotheek' . You may also download the wma or mp3 files, so you can listen to them (when you're on Crete).
The Lassithi route is still in its original form on the site. So if you’d like to visit this beautiful plateau with the birth cave of Zeus on your next vacation, here you will find the route with the corresponding information.
